Fashion News by dissimilis : Meaning 'unlike any' in latin, dissimilis (dis'si.mi.lis) is a new NYC-based fashion brand that redefines modern wardrobe staples, and is made for those who embrace what makes them 'unlike any'. Much like its ethos, the name signifies self-acceptance and promotes individuality. Each piece is meant to celebrate what makes you dissimilis and act as a source of inspiration for your daily life.

Not fitting in to the norm for most of her life, Founder & Designer Lara Alia merged her passion for fashion design with her desire to inspire others to be themselves. "What makes us different makes us special; dissimilis. I want my pieces to reflect that feeling, as much as I want the wearer to feel that about themselves," she says.

Influenced heavily by her own personal style and her frequent travels between LA and NYC, Alia wanted to create a line that allowed her to minimally pack a wardrobe for any coast, during any season - while still being easy to dress up or down.

The line is encompassed of seasonless day-to-day basics and elevated pieces that can be mixed and layered with one another for maximum wearability. Collection 1 is available for pre-order on its website, www.dissimilis.com, starting now through the end of September 2018. Pieces from the collection range in price with basics starting at $125, and luxury pieces starting at $495.

Founder & Designer, Lara Alia grew up in Southern California and followed her passion for fashion design at the prestigious Parsons School for Design in New York City. After apprenticing for world-renowned fashion houses in New York, she pursued her love for the art of couture techniques by creating custom evening-wear for private clients, before eventually founding dissimilis.
